The #wastetowaves handplane by foam. & OTHERS is made from the milk bottles used in our café. It is a circular design collaboration, using waste to create a unique and functional waveriding vehicle.
Shipping Now
Following the selling out of both initial batches of handplanes (!) we have made the decision to move from batch production to constant production. We will no longer produce limited editions of 50 handplanes at a go, instead we will keep our production rolling constantly throughout the winter.
Each handplane will still be numbered and signed. They are completely handmade and will always come with their own quirks and individualities, including unique colour combinations. Consider the grand reveal an exciting surprise and part of the journey. Just like your mammy said; “You get what you’re given.”

PROCESS
The making of each handplane helps 10 HDPE milk bottles find a new purpose. Every bottle used in foam is intercepted, cleaned, melted, molded and hand finished to create what you now hold. This entire process happens in the workshop at the back of foam’s cafe in Bundoran, Ireland. Read more about the process here.
UNIQUE
Each plane is completely unique. The patterns on the deck and underside are a result of our hand-made process; combining different colours every time a new plane is melted and moulded.
