Meet the Roaster: Cloud Picker
Absence makes the heart grow fonder they say. Well, take a person away from good coffee and that friend may question their friendship with you. Specialty coffee is such a thing now and is more relevant than ever. It’s on the tip of everyone's tongue. “Where can you get a good coffee around here?”
Is this the new form of asking “Where’s the best pint of Guinness in town?” Times are changing and the specialty coffee game is providing people with what they want. It helps folk to get up in the morning, and helps them get about their day. No better two people to know this than the boys at Cloud Picker Coffee, Peter & Frank. Cloud Picker has been a corner stone in specialty coffee in Dublin since early 2013.
If you happen to be prancing around, having a whiff of your coffee before you have a taste, you probably need no introduction to Cloud Picker. A micro roastery based in Dublin leading the way in its personality from the ground up. Cloud Picker have rooted themselves nicely in the coffee scene and are doing a tremendous job at it with a passion for seeking out the best of beans, a keen eye for searching in the rarest of places, and providing the big smoke daily with a fine cup of brew. All this while being possibly one of the most devoted business’s to sustainability in the game. We just had to check them out right at the start.
Upon arrival to their fine roastery we notice their electric delivery van to new improved reusable/returnable coffee cans for coffee shops. This pair don’t miss a trick when it comes to doing things right in mindful environmental business practice. Peter & Frank have been pure gents to work with from the get go. Always there to help, keen to train & inform us and our staff, the proof is in the pudding. Peter & Frank with their team are providing some of the most flavourful, honest & mindful coffee this emerald has ever had.
We wished to match our enthusiasm with their wealth of knowledge and we thought this would be a match made in heaven. We all know Bundoran is heaven to us and we wouldn’t want to be anywhere else. It’s got the surf, the most open & friendly people, and to that we wanted to add great coffee.
If you have been to our coffee shop you wouldn’t get far without having tasted the fruits of Cloud Pickers labour. “Henry”; perfect for an espresso, the choice we made to keep flowing in every cup.
Push on a few months from our opening days and we were confronted with one of the best halloween group dress ups I’ve seen yet. The Cloud Picker boys came as Father Ted part 2 with the wheel chair and all. Father Jack would have been proud of Peter that night. All straight into character and before we know it, coffee competitions are on. Who can do the best art? Who’s best at giving the best advice about how to do good art? Who’s the best at being terrible? And on it went with plenty of laughs. This is something I won’t forget.
These lads like to have a laugh. It was great, only months down the road from opening, to have built such a great relationship and friends. They are a joy to work with and have been with us since the beginning. If you're in Dublin make sure to check out their wonderful cafe on Pearse St with some of the most delicious food going in Dublin right now. With such a trickle down effect the rest of their crew are a delight and its shows with such a genuine atmosphere.
SO…
Three boyo’s intrigued about opening our own coffee shop, second home, hangout or what ever it was going to be. And we wanted to share what we felt was the best coffee on the island.
Cloud Picker, a force to be reckoned with, if your reckoning is genuine, earnest & admirable. This is why we choose to have Cloud Picker Coffee in our coffee shop.
Thanks lads for supplying us, from Bundoran and all who travel far to step into foam for your finest of coffees.
